Naturally Inspired Highly Stable Salt-Resisting Material for Solar Water Desalination

Solar desalination is a promising method for producing drinkable water, but salt accumulation on the evaporator surface leads to reduced light absorption. This study presents nature-inspired self-driven salt-resistant material (NI-SRM) salt-free solar system. The introduced has great porosity generate desirable capillary force lift up water surface, which can function as pumping channels. concentration of solution in absorber could not achieve saturation and produce via evaporation during experiment. NI-SRM had an rate 3.02 kg-m−2 h−1 under 1 sun irradiation outstanding long-term stability high-salinity brine with no apparent deposition. An 80% efficiency was achieved 24 h (10 kW-m−2). Through control experiments, multifunctional found play critical role preventing over sun. newly developed higher solution. environmentally friendly cost-effective.
